The K9 Unit competed at Rocket Relay's NAFA Tournament at the Canadian Pet Expo March 31-April 1. It was our first tournament of the year and was a fun season-opener for us! After our team not competing together since last August, it was great seeing the results of our winter training and watching the dogs racing together again 😊
Our Regular 1 Division Lineup of Crank/Zuma, Trend, Bonus, Graffiti/Abby ran well, and we were able to give our younger dogs Zuma and Abby a chance to race. Both did exceptionally well, with Zuma running a few heats in start and posting 3.7-3.9 seconds with a personal best of 3.73!! Abby raced part-time in anchor position and ran flawlessly all weekend! She is getting faster every time out, and her new personal best is 4.5 seconds! Our Regular 2 Division Lineup of Ninja, Brenna, Limit, Viva/Felon ran great all weekend and placed 3rd. Big thanks to Rocket Relay for hosting an awesome tournament and to our sponsors Big Country Raw and Tri-Acta who always support us. We were short-handed this weekend, but a huge thanks to our teammate Paula Roberts who came all weekend with no dog to race just to help us out. We ended up throwing her in to boxload (gave her a quick 5 min rundown of the rules) and off she went!! Awesome job!!! Also big thanks to Melanie Linda and Josh Gibbs for running Ninja!! We always enjoy your help and company!! Last but definately not least, big thanks to Karie Elizebeth Photography for coming out to take some phenomenal action shots of our dogs and also dogs from other teams. It is greatly appreciated, and the photos will be showing up on our Website, Facebook and Instagram soon!! A few sample photos are posted at the top. We are now looking ahead to our next competition April 21/22 at KCRO's 'Hop into Spring 2' UFLI Tournament in Winchester. Hope to see everyone there!!
